PMI-PBA (PMI Professional in Business Analysis) is best if you work in agile or hybrid project environments and want to combine BA skills with PM frameworks - it is especially valued by organisations using PMI's project methodology. CBAP (Certified Business Analysis Professional, IIBA) is best if you are a dedicated senior BA wanting the globally recognised specialist credential - it is more focused on pure BA practice. CBAP requires more experience (5 years of BA work in the last 10 years) and is considered more prestigious in specialist BA roles.
CBAP requires 7,500 hours (approximately 5 years full-time) of business analysis work experience in the last 10 years, with a minimum of 900 hours in 4 of the 6 BABOK knowledge areas. You also need 21 hours of professional development in the last 4 years. It is a genuinely senior credential - not appropriate for early-career BAs.
